Boating...finally!

Last weekend we took the boat out on it's 1st family boating of the season. The guys had already been out once before, but it was our first time with the whole family out this year. The weather was amazing, in the 80s on Saturday & 70s on Sunday. We went both days and had a blast. The river is high so the current was really strong. On Saturday we met up with our friends the Masons and tied up our boats and hung out for a bit. My dad is the only one who wakeboarded that day since the water was so rough. The kids had a fun time on the boat. I wasn't sure how Ava would do since she was missing a nap. She did ok, but started getting fussy towards the end.
Andrew is actually starting to wear his sunglasses more...I love them on him :)
Ava was a little timid the 1st day. Sophie LOVES the boat.
Andrew fell asleep with my mom the 1st day.

On Sunday the weather was a little overcast, but we still went on the river. The water was much better and Nate & my dad had a great time wakeboarding and skiing. Ava did much better on the boat.
He really wanted to help out on the boat and loved holding the flag up.
Andrew & Daddy had a little dance party with some fun 90s tunes!

1st slalom ski of the year!
Andrew drove the boat for most of the time on the 2nd day and was really into it.

Ava was a bit more comfortable on the boat the 2nd day. Looking forward to lots of fun boat days this summer!

Memorial Day

We didn't do much over Memorial Day weekend. We did go to the park for a bit. Andrew rode his big bike for the 1st time from our house to the park down the street. He did such a great job! He was a bit scared that it would tip over, but daddy reassured him that the training wheels would keep him from tipping. Andrew had tons of fun running around the park playing chase with daddy while I pushed Ava on the swing.

Ava really enjoyed standing up and holding onto the play structure while she watched Andrew play.

Telephone

Ava LOVES the phone. She always wants to "talk" on it, hold it and push the buttons. She gets so excited when she sees anyone with the phone. On the night of Daddy's birthday, he used his cell phone to call the house phone. She thought it was pretty fun. I came in on the end of it, so I didn't get to capture a lot of the moment, but here's a bit of it....

Nate's birthday

Nate turned 30 on May 24th. He didn't want a party and he didn't want a big deal made out of his birthday. Unfortunately Andrew had his school program the night of his birthday and a meeting with a client for lunch so we weren't really able to celebrate much. Ava and I took him to coffee in the morning while Andrew was at school, we had an early dinner with my parents at PF Changs and then headed to Andrew's school program. After that we headed to our house for cake & presents. Andrew really loves celebrating birthdays and helped daddy open all of his presents.

Daddy and his kids.

Daddy was pretty excited to get "Thank You Notes" by Jimmy Fallon from the kids :)

I just love how Andrew is trying to help Ava walk :)

That Saturday we went out with our friends, the Leonards, and had a fun afternoon with them. No party, no hoopla (despite my trying to plan a surprise party that no one could come to) but I think it turned out the way Nate wanted it to.

Nate- I love you with all of my heart! You are the best husband, daddy, and best friend. I'm so excited to be sharing our 30's together. I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of fun!

Last month of school

A few weeks ago Andrew had his last share day at school. He loves his special day and it always makes getting up early and out the door for school so much easier. He brought his huge cement truck which he calls his "incement" to show his friends. He was really excited about it.
Leading everyone in the Pledge Allegiance.
I know this picture is blurry, but it's the only one I had of him with his truck.

The next week he had his 1st school music performance. It just happened to land on Nate's 30th birthday. It was pretty adorable though. Andrew had been practicing his songs at home all the time. Here is him singing one of the songs:

I love that he is singing a song that I used to sing when I was little.
When I showed this to his teacher, she cried. She thought it was the sweetest thing :)

At his actual performance he barely sang at all. He stood up there, did a few of the motions, but for the most part barely moved his lips. I think he was a little overwhelmed by all of the kids (it was his class as well as 2 preschool 4 classes and 3 kindergarden classes), it being dark so he couldn't see the audience and the huge audience. He did see me at one point during the performance and waved and perked up a bit.
This is how he looked for most of the performance...hands crossed and a sober face.
He did do a few of the motions :)

His last day of school was last Thursday, June 2nd. We spent the morning at the park with all of his classmates and teachers. Unfortunately it was freezing out and sprinkled a bit. Andrew still had a ton of fun and ran around playing chase with the boys, playing in the sand, and splashing in the puddles.
Andrew with his teacher Mrs. Shearer in his classroom and his other teacher Mrs. Jensen at the park. He made both of them cards and was really excited to give them to them.

Andrew with his 2 teachers and most of his classmates.
After school, Nate and I took him to lunch, just the 3 of us. Ava stayed at my mom's...we wanted to make it a special day for Andrew. We told him he could pick where he wanted to eat and he said "poltle" which mean Chipotle. When we went there the line was out the door so we asked him if he wanted to go to Panera (which is across the street) and he said yes. We had a fun lunch celebrating the end of Andrew's 1st year of school. Can't believe how big my little boy is getting!

Really behind

I know that I'm really behind on blogging. For the few people that read this, I'm sorry. I hope to be back to it soon! I have TONS to catch up on.
