Soccer Season

Soccer season has come to an end and Andrew had a great season.  He did such a good job, especially for it being his first year.  He always made several goals each game.  His last game was the only game that it poured down rain.  We were lucky to have great weather except for the last game.

 Blurry picture, but I love that coach, Daddy, is helping Andrew out.

Ava is always such a little trooper at all the games.  She loves to cheer for brother.

Harvest Party

Andrew had his harvest party at school a few Saturday's ago.  Since it was during nap time I took Andrew and Nate stayed at home with Ava.  It was so fun to get to go to this event with just him and I think he loved it too.  

He dressed up as Batman, of course, and had a little smirk on his face the whole time.  I think he really thought that he was Batman.  

 

Every time I asked him to smile for a picture, he made this mad, fighting face.

The Apple Orchard

Several weeks ago we had a play date at the Apple Orchard.  It was a beautiful day and we had been to most of the pumpkin patches in the area so we thought we'd try something different.  It didn't go as well as we'd hoped.  It was a small farm with not a ton to do.  We went through the hay maze, checked out all the farm animals and jumped in the bouncy house.  Unfortunately they wouldn't let us pick apples or go on a hay ride which was kind of a bummer.  So after playing here for a bit, we headed to the pumpkin patch on the way home and ran around some more!

They had a blast playing in the leaves.

A little update

Wow, it's been a very long time since I've updated my blog.  October has been super busy.  It seemed like most of the month we were sick.  First I had a terrible cold and lost my voice for several days and then Nate, Andrew and myself all got the flu.  It was horrible!  Luckily Ava didn't get it.  So to update on some of the day to day things....

Ava is potty trained!  And it was fairly easy.  It only took a few days and she rarely has accidents.  I'm so proud of her.

We got to go downtown for dinner for our friend's 30th birthday!

All this sickness made for lots of very lazy days watching t.v. and sleeping on the couch.

He was so excited when he found all of these comic books!

Nate had a big work event that he put on with all of his vendors....so proud of him!

We made homemade pizzas.  This was a first for us and the kids loved it!

I participated in my first bazaar at our church.  It was a little disappointing since the turnout wasn't good, but thankful for friends who worked the event for me while I was out of town.

Potty training

Yesterday we started hardcore potty training.  Last week we did underwear only in the evenings when we were home and she did okay for a few nights and then would just hold it from nap time to bedtime.  It was a bit frustrating so I wasn't sure how this week would go.  

Monday went pretty good.  With the help of Nate and my parents, I was able to have just Ava all day while Andrew was at school and at my parents.  It was nice to just focus on her since we spent most of the morning in the bathroom.  She did have a few accidents but some successes as well. Monday night was chaos with the boys back home.  There was another accident but a few more successes.  All in all a great first day of potty training.

Today was great!  I was really worried that it wouldn't go well since one, Andrew was home which is a distraction and two, we had to leave the house for Andrew's swimming lesson.  Ava did great this morning with no accidents.  I put a pull up on her just to be safe and she didn't go in it the whole hour and a half that we were gone.  I was so proud of her!  Tonight she actually pooped in the potty!  She had no accidents and told me several times when she had to go potty.  Hoping that the rest of the week goes this smoothly.

She was not happy that I was taking a picture of her...she just wanted me to read to her.

Playing in the yard

I've been trying to play with my camera a bit to get out of shooting only in auto.  I took a class awhile ago and learned a few things, but really haven't played around with it much except for the first few weeks after the class.  I honestly find it a bit frustrating because sometimes I will miss a great shot.  So last week, when we were having beautiful weather, I got out my camera and took some pictures of the kids in the backyard.  I just love our trees this time of year.
