Great Pama's Birthday

A few weeks ago we headed to Eugene for my Grandma's 80th birthday party.  We got there around lunch time and had lunch with my sister & Leyton before putting the girls down for a nap and heading to the party.  My sister's neighborhood was having a garage sale so we walked around a bit and found a few must have items.  There was a really cute lemonade stand across the street from my sister's house and Andrew was pretty excited about it.
We then heading to Kayla's inlaws house to visit the baby chicks.  Andrew LOVED them and could have held them for hours.  It was so cute.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at my grandma's party.
Ava finally got to meet her Great Aunt Karen (they share the same birthday).
And the girls had fun dancing to the juke box music.
And they always have fun with the sweet cousin Leyton.

Ava & her paci

For the longest time we've been telling Ava that when she turns 3 she will be a big girl and will have to give her paci's to other babies.  She seemed ok with it until we actually took them away.  We did it the day after her birthday and it was the start of weeks of little sleep and lots of tears.  My poor Ava.  I think her paci is her best friend.  Night one she didn't fall asleep till close to 11pm.  She has always been a great sleeper.  Goes to bed at 8, wakes at 8 or 8:30 and naps from 1-4.  When we took her paci away she just stopped sleeping.  Every night was a battle and so was every nap.  Most days she would either cry during nap or open and close her door the whole time.  She also would wake up in the middle of the night for several hours.  She just couldn't figure out how to soothe herself back to sleep.
Just when I thought we'd made progress I found her with her toy monkey's paci in her mouth!  The pacifier is attached to the monkey, but she still made it work.
Or I'd find her sleeping on the floor with her door open.
So we took her to Build A Bear in hopes that a new stuffed animal to sleep with would help.  She picked out My Little Pony and Andrew got one too, a puppy.  They were so excited and it was adorable.

I love all of their expressions!
My Little Pony hasn't helped a ton, but time has.  A month later and she is starting to do better.  She is definitely a stubborn one and this has taken so much more time that it did with Andrew.  She asks other girls that are younger if they have paci's and the other day she got really upset and asked for one.  So I know it's still on her mind, but she doesn't ask for it in the car or at bed anymore and she is starting to sleep better.

Daddy's Birthday

(Sorry I'm a bit behind on blogging!)
Daddy's birthday is only 10 days after Ava.  So the month of May is full of celebrations!  Ava's birthday, Mother's Day & Daddy's birthday.  It seemed like every week we were eating cake!
We celebrated Daddy's birthday early with his side of the family since Bud & Twyla were heading to back to Palm Springs.  We met for dinner and then everyone came back to our house for cake.
Ava & Uncle Thomas had fun playing together.

On Daddy's actual birthday we kept it pretty low key.  He wanted Abby's for dinner and then we came back to our house for presents & cake with my parents.
The kids drew him some pictures.
