Andrewisms

Andrew says the funniest things. Here our some of his recent funny sayings....

I cannot believe it! (with lots of exaggeration...he got this from Little Einsteins)
Delicious
Bran-news (his word for bandaids)
I take a dump (don't even ask about this one....we are trying to get him to stop saying this)
Bawberries (this is what he calls strawberries and raspberries)
Mok (milk)
Let me check (as he opens the patio door to see if it's raining or cold outside)
Oh baby...take your picture (yes, this is from the song Baby got back. luckily these are the only words that he knows from the song!)
Tute (cute)
I lub (love) you
Bicycle danger- he says this anytime he sees a motorcycle or bicycle because we told him that motorcycles are dangerous. Not sure why he says this about bicycles too!
It's rover (over)- he says this anytime one of his cartoons is over.
Well, hi Abba (Ava)- he says this almost every time he sees Ava.
Port (airport)

Andrew loves to point out dirty cars when we are driving in the car. He says, "cars dirty. go to the car wash please." The way he says it is so funny. He says it with such desperation, like it has to be washed right that minute! He definitely doesn't like things to be dirty or messy!

Andrew: Mommy, Aba's (Ava) tute, I hansome (handsome). Daddy hansome, Mommy not hansome, Mommy pretty.

Nate got a new (to us) car the other. He used to have a red BMW that Andrew called Roary. He came home with a Honda CRV and asked Andrew if he wanted to go see Daddy's new truck. Andrew went and looked at it and said, "that's not a truck, that's a car!" Later when we went to go ride in it he called it a baby truck. Now every time we go somewhere he says he wants to ride in baby truck.

Today Andrew looked out the window and said, "Mommy why are the trees blowing?" I told him it was because it was windy outside. He then said, "I need my kite." Too funny!

When Ava is crying Andrew gets right up next to her face, tries to hug her and says, "it's okay Abba, I got you." So sweet.

I have a friend who has the same name as me. It's one of Andrew's friend's mom. The other day I was talking about her and mentioned her name. Andrew looked at me and said, "no, that's my mommy!" He realized that that was my name. When I ask him what Mommy's name is he says, "Kristi" very clearly. He also knows that Daddy's name is Nate.

Since we had Ava, Andrew seems so much older to me. I'm shocked at all of the things he says, knows and understands. He will repeat anything and everything we say and doesn't forget a thing. He's such a funny little boy and cracks us up all the time!

Thank you Father, Amen!

This is Andrew's little prayer that he says every day before his meals. They taught him a little song that goes along with it in his class at church.
Today was our 1st day bringing Ava to church. She was so good. She loved all the music and was awake the whole time making the cutest little faces. Nate and I couldn't keep our eyes off her! I missed out on most of church because I had to feed her, but it was fun to take her to church and show her to all of our friends and church family. Andrew was so excited to be at church. As soon as he woke up he asked Daddy if he could go to church. He loves playing with all of his friends. He had so much fun in his class, but clung to me as soon as he got out of class. With so many people coming to see Ava, I think he was a little shy, so he wrapped his arms around my leg and wouldn't leave my side. After dinner we went to Oswego Grill for lunch. We hadn't been there since the night my water broke. Everyone there knows us, so it was fun to introduce them to Ava!

Ava's 1st week

Happy 1 week birthday Ava! I can't believe it's already been a week since Ava was born. This week has flown by. Andrew is adjusting well to being a big brother. He's been a lot more needy and whinny but he is very sweet towards Ava. We are just working on trying to still give him lots of attention. Ava is a sweet baby. She LOVES to be cuddled. Her 1st couple of nights she slept great, only waking up once in the night to eat around 3:30/4 and again at 7:30. About day 4 she decided to become a little more high maintenance. She only wanted to sleep if we were holding her or if she was snuggled up close to us. As sweet and cute as this is, I know it doesn't establish good sleeping habits for in the future. Luckily we had a good night last night. She wasn't as needy and didn't wake up to eat until 5:30 and then again at 9:30! We all got to sleep in, even Andrew slept till 9! It was so nice to get a little sleep. Here's our week in pictures....
5.14.10- Right after she was born
5.15.10- 1 day old- getting ready to come home
5.16.10- Spent the day relaxing and had a visit from Erin Wanderscheid who brought us dinner...so sweet!
5.17.10- 3 days old - Our 1st outing: breakfast at Starbucks, watching the ducks and frogs, and a quick trip to Costco.
5.18.10-4 days old- lunch at Chipotle and then Ava's 1st doctor appointment. She was back up to her birth weight. She dropped to 6.8lbs while in the hospital. Doctor said she is healthy and doing great! Andrew went with us and kept asking what the doctor was doing. He was very concerned and wanted to know if Ava was okay. He's so sweet! That night we went to Pama and Papa's house for dinner. Most nights we've had friends offer to bring us meals, but we didn't have any planned for that night so my parents offered to make us dinner. It was Ava's 1st visit to her Grandparents house.
5.19.10-5 days old- Spent the day relaxing at home.
5.20.10- 6 days old- We spent the morning at Starbucks and then took Andrew to the library. He's been going a little stir crazy, so we thought he'd enjoy playing with other kids. He had so much fun and it was a special treat because Daddy got to come with us!

Getting ready to go home.
Andrew holding his baby sister.
On our way home.

As most of you know I was supposed to be induced at 7am on Friday, May 14th. On Thursday night at 11pm as I was putting clean sheets on our bed my water broke. My water didn't break with Andrew so it took me by surprise. I quickly called the hospital and they confirmed that it was my water that broke and told me that I should come to the hospital. I then called my parents who I had a hard time getting ahold of since they were both sleeping. When I got ahold of them they quickly came over to take care of Andrew who was sleeping. The whole way to the hospital my contractions were going crazy! We arrived at the hospital at 12:01am on the 14th. The set me up in a room and checked me...I was at 4cm. They asked if I wanted an epidural and I said yes, but that I didn't need it right away. They told me that if I didn't get it soon, I would miss my window because this baby was coming fast. So they brought in the anesthesiologist, got my epidural which worked for a bit and then started wearing off on my right side so they had to give me more. Getting an epidural while having non stop contractions is not fun! My nurse said that there is no way I could have had this baby without an epidural. My contractions were one after the other with only a few seconds in between. It barely gave time for the baby to rest in between contractions. I quickly went from 4cm, to 6cm, to 9.5cm and when I got to a 10 they wanted me to wait to push and let the baby labor down for about an hour and a half. I think this really helped out my active labor. At about 4:20ish they wanted me to start pushing. I used the mirror, like I did with Andrew, and it really helped me focus. Ava was born with only 27 minutes of pushing! So much shorter than my 2hr 44 minute labor with Andrew! Worst part of labor was the constant shakes that started as soon as my water broke and lasted for almost 2 hours after I had Ava. They were horrible! The nurse even had a hard time taking my blood pressure which tended to be low during the whole labor process. Unfortunately my doctor wasn't there to deliver Ava, but we did have a wonderful on call doctor, Drea Olmstead who was amazing! As soon as Ava arrived she was crying. Crazy thing is, she was sunny side up which makes it even harder to deliver! She cried a lot during the first 2 hours of her arrival because she had so much fluid in her and she had to be put under the warmer because her temperature was low. We were awake for the rest of the early morning and were so excited to see Andrew and how he would react to his new baby sister. He arrived around 9:45 that morning with my parents. He came bringing Ava a gift and was so excited to meet her! He spent the morning with us, went back to have a nap at my parents house and then came back to the hospital that night. He didn't want to leave our side and spent a lot of time cuddling with me and Ava. He brought Ava a glow worm doll and she gave him his much anticipated horse trailer (he had been asking for this for about a month!). Ava did great her first night, only coming in to feed 1 time during the night. We put her in the nursery in hopes of getting some sleep. The next morning we decided we wanted to go home a day early. My parents brought Andrew to the hospital and we all left around noon to go home. Andrew was pretty excited that we were all going home together in mommy's car. We stopped at Panera on the way home for a quick bite to eat....Ava's 1st outing :) It was so nice to get home and just be together as a family of 4! Thank you to everyone who came and visited us at the hospital and who prayed for us during pregnancy, labor and delivery. We have a healthy beautiful little girl!

Only a day away....

Tomorrow is the big day....Ava's arrival! I go in to be induced at 7am. It has been a busy week organizing and cleaning and doing lots of laundry in preparation for Ava. I can't believe how quickly this week has flown by! Thanks again to my mom for helping me organize and clean this week....what a huge help you have been to me! Today I wanted to just relax and enjoy my last day of just hanging out with Andrew. We went to Starbucks this morning on a little date. Daddy ended up joining us for a bit and Pama stopped by too. We visited the ducks and saw lots of frogs too. Andrew had so much fun, I had a hard time convincing him to come home. We spent the rest of the morning playing at home in the backyard. It is such a beautiful day! He rode around in his jeep and we played in what he calls his "sand castle" which is really just his sand table. We had fun playing outside until we discovered a huge snake! We then decided to go inside for lunch until Daddy could come home and take care of it. Tonight we are going to hang out just the 3 of us. I spent some time talking to Andrew about what will happen tomorrow. I told him that Ava is going to come out of Mommy's tummy tomorrow and that he will get to hold her, kiss her and hug her. He seemed very excited. Hopefully he will be this excited tomorrow when he visits us at the hospital. Can't believe that tomorrow we will be a family of 4! So excited to meet baby Ava.

Playing in his "sand castle." I love the smirk on his face in this picture.

Here's what Ava gets to sleep in for the first several weeks....this beautiful bassinet. I just love it and think it turned out so cute. This was my dad's bassinet when he was a baby and Andrew used it too. I picked out the fabric and had a family friend make the bedding. I think it turned out so cute and girly!

OMSI (pictures)

As I mentioned in my last post we went to OMSI last Friday and had so much fun! Andrew loved it and really enjoyed the kids area where he could play in the sand and water. He also LOVED the space shuttle.

Mother's Day Weekend

38.5 weeks pregnant

Lunch at Porta Terra at the downtown Hilton
5.9.2010
We had a busy, but fun Mother's Day weekend. It started Friday morning when Nate told me that he was going to take the morning off and take us to OMSI. We had never taken Andrew and thought that would be fun to do. I don't have my camera with the pictures from the day, I'm hoping to get that back tomorrow and will post some of the cute pictures we took of Andrew.

Saturday morning we spent running errands and then headed to Woodburn to visit Nate's grandparents. We had a nice lunch with the Bailey family. They live on a golf course and Andrew had tons of fun running around and chasing the squirrels. We headed home for naptime and then spent the evening at Bridgeport-dinner at CPK, shopping, and of course gelato! It was a beautiful sunny evening and we were even able to have dinner outside.

Sunday was a busy day! We had church in the morning and then had lunch with my family downtown. I decided since it was so beautiful outside that I would take the opportunity to run some errands during the afternoon while Andrew napped. I also thought it would be a fun to just spend some time with my mom. So we headed to Bridgeport to make some returns. Bad idea- I was exhausted and could barely handle being out for an hour. We cut our shopping short and I headed home to relax. Andrew was up so there wasn't really anytime for relaxing, but I did enjoy sitting outside watching him and Daddy play soccer and golf. That night we met up with my in-laws and had pizza. Andrew loved playing all the video games at the pizza place. He sat with us for about 10 minutes to eat and then was back at it....he loves video games, just like his Daddy!

All in all it was a fun weekend, but definitely exhausting. Hoping to get a little rest this week before Ava makes her big arrival on Friday! Thanks to the best mom who is willing to come to my house everyday this week to help me clean my house and organize before Ava arrives, oh yeah, and make me dinner :) I am so blessed to have her living so close to me and always willing to help me with anything and check up on me to make sure I'm doing okay. I will say it is a lot harder chasing around an active toddler while being pregnant. Thank you mom for all that you do for me....I love you!

38 weeks

I had my last doctor appointment today. I am still at 3cm dilated, positioning is now at -1 (it was at -3 last week) and I am not effaced which is something the doctor is not worried about. He said that a lot of times with your second pregnancy you don't become effaced until you are 6 or 7 cm dilated. He said my cervix looks great and everything should go smoothly for my induction that is scheduled for next Friday morning at 7am (the 14th). Please make sure and say a prayer for me that day. I seem to be more nervous this time around than I was with Andrew. My doctor said it's because I know what to expect out of delivery. I am very excited to meet Ava, hold her, kiss her, see what she looks like, and become a family of 4, but I am very nervous about the actual delivery and recovery. Andrew's delivery was rough...pushing for almost 3 hours and recovery was even harder. My doctor thinks this time will be better, so I am praying that it is. Can't believe that in 8 days we will be a family of 4!

Dance Party

On our way to Gymboree class last Wednesday the new Justin Timberlake and Timbaland song came on so Andrew and I had a dance party in the car. He cracks me up!

Nate took some pregnancy pics of me today with Andrew. 37.5 weeks. Only 1.5 weeks left...or less!

I know this is kind of blurry of Andrew, but I love that he is laughing and touching my belly.

Ava's Nursery

The nursery is finally complete. I still have a little moving around of things on the shelf and of course pictures to add into the frames when Ava arrives. I LOVE it! Thank you to the best husband for hanging all of the artwork and painting the room. Thank you Dad for helping Nathan with the painting and closet. So excited to meet Ava in less than 2 weeks! I also got her bassinet the other day and will take some pictures and post them. I picked out the fabric and then had a family friend make the bedding....it looks adorable and so girly!
My sister made these....aren't they amazing! She is so talented!
Sorry for the weird shadows, I took these pictures at night without good lighting.
