Ava-15 month Ava stats

Ava went to the doctor today for her 15 month check up. I knew that she'd grown a lot in the last few months, but was shocked to find out that she was 21 pounds! She was only a little over 17 lbs at her 1 year check up. She went from being in the 4th percentile to the 25th! She is 30 inches long (30%) and her head is 45.7cm (40%). She only got her flu vaccine, but also had to get her toe poked so they can draw some blood for some testing. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this on the blog, but Ava had low iron for awhile. She had to be on iron supplements for awhile and when they last drew her blood her iron levels were up. We took her off of her supplements for a month to see if she is getting enough iron in her diet. So we should find out the results in the next few days. Her doctor said she is doing great and is a healthy little girl!

I just love watching her walk...it's adorable!

Boating day

We spent Sunday late morning/early afternoon on the boat. It was another hot and beautiful day! Finally we are getting some warm summer weather! Andrew really enjoyed swimming in the river. He has been very hesitant about swimming in the river, but on Sunday he got right in there and had tons of fun. He didn't want to stop swimming. He finally said that he was tired and his muscles hurt. He cracks me up! Ava got in the river too for the first time. She didn't love it, but enjoyed standing on the swim deck and getting her feet wet.
Enjoying a little snack with Pama.
Look who decided he liked grapes!

The Wedding

Andrew was in his second wedding on Saturday, Ashley & Vik Rajacopal. It was an outdoor wedding overlooking the river and it was our first 90 degree day! Andrew was a trooper in his 3 piece tux in the heat.
We were supposed to be at the venue at 4:30 for pictures. On our way there Andrew kept saying that he didn't want to be the ring bearer and that he didn't want to dress up like a bear. I kept telling him that he didn't have to wear a costume. He also said that he was nervous and that his tummy hurt and he didn't want people to watch him. Poor guy, he's just so shy.
I got him ready and we waited around for pictures, but since they were running behind they didn't get a chance to take pictures of the kids. They were both so good waiting in the dressing room, probably because we were in air conditioning instead of in the heat outside!
When it was time for him to walk down the aisle he was so scared. Poor thing, he looked like he was about to cry. He really wanted me to walk down with him. But he did it. He walked down the aisle, rang his bell like he was supposed to, with his head looking at his feet. When he got to where he was supposed to stand he looked like he was going to cry. He was looking for me everywhere. I finally walked to the front row and he came and sat next to me for the rest of the wedding.
The rest of the night everyone kept coming up to him and telling him what a good job he did. We told him how proud we were of him and I think he was happy to finally be done with the wedding. He made a really cute ring bearer though!
Waiting for the wedding to start.

My sweet boy after the wedding.
These kids together were so cute. Ava giving Andrew a kiss.

And holding hands!
They did a little dancing on the dance floor, but not much.

Most of his dancing took place out on the deck with mommy & daddy.

The Rehearsal

Andrew was in a wedding yesterday (more on that later) and on Friday they had the rehearsal. It was a busy Friday with a brunch for the ladies of the wedding party in the morning. I wasn't technically in the wedding, but since Andrew was they included me, which was very sweet. It was a fun morning full of kind words, funny stories and yummy food. The afternoon went by quickly and then we were off to the rehearsal at The Foundry at 4:30. Andrew was shy, as he always is in new situations, but he quickly found a friend in the flower girl Ava. I think he recognized her from church. They have very similar personalities so they were both a little shy together. By the end of the rehearsal they were jumping around and having lots of fun together. It was so cute because Andrew turned to her and said, " you wanna have dinner with me?" She said yes....it was adorable :)
Dinner was at Andina downtown....peruvian food. Andrew didn't eat much but enjoyed the bread and dessert. It was a very late night for him; we didn't leave the restaurant until 10! That was the earliest we could slip away. He did great and was so excited about his police transformer that Ashley and Vik got him.
Watching all of the kids jumping into the river....it was quite the show!
He stood with his hands crossed for most of the rehearsal.

Practicing walking down the aisle.
Standing in his spot and being so good.
The kids had so much fun jumping!

Waiting patiently for dinner. Dinner wasn't served till around 8pm, which is his normal bedtime.

15 month Ava

Not much to add since I just wrote an Ava update. Words she says: yes (but only sometimes), dada, mama, baba (which means brother), ama (pama and only says this sometimes) and papa (but not often). I think it's safe to say that her first word is yes. And she is now walking all the time. She still crawls occasionally but is really good at walking now! Here are a few pictures of her from the day. We were in Seattle and she was a little too busy and didn't want to take pictures. She is really starting to walk all over the place and is starting to eat a lot more table food. She still doesn't love meat or veggies unless pureed. She has grown a ton and is such a funny little girl!

This picture totally shows her personality!

Mini Vacation

We took a little mini vacation to Seattle this past weekend, 3 days and 2 nights. What was supposed to be a 3 hour drive turned into a 4 hour plus drive. Driving with a 15 month old is interesting. Ava hates driving in the car for more than 5 minutes, so I knew this drive would be rough. We moved her to a forward facing seat and thought this would making driving a little easier. She did love it, but was still loud and fussy and only slept for 30 minutes! We ended up stopping at Walmart in Chehalis to get the kids some toys for the car, stretch our legs and have some lunch. When we finally got to the hotel the boys went swimming while I tried to get Ava to nap. That didn't last long, so we decided to walk around downtown before meeting Nate's college room mate. We had dinner with Nate's buddy Mike and his family. They have 2 girls around the age of our kids. Ava thoroughly enjoyed watching Hadley at dinner. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of the 2 families.
Ava LOVING her new carseat (Andrew's old carseat) and finally falling asleep!

We had these huge windows that overlooked the freeway and the water and Ava loved them. She would stand on the little ledge and be very entertained.

The next day we went up to Queen Anne for coffee at Starbucks and pictures at Kerry Park before back to the hotel. Nate and Andrew left for the Mariner game and I put Ava down for a nap before heading off to one of my college friend's house. Ava and I had a great time at Andrea's house. It was so nice to catch up and Ava really enjoyed exploring their house....she was a busy girl! Unfortunately her baby Molly was sleeping, but I got to hang out with her other daughters who are just adorable! We didn't get any pics of the girls together, but Andrea took a few adorable ones of Ava....she's really good at photography and taught me a few things while I was there. (thanks AZ!)

Pictures taken by Andrea, isn't she so talented?!

Nathan didn't take very many pictures of the game, but I was told they had a great time. Andrew asked a lot of questions, ate lots of food including some cotton candy that he didn't really like, played with his cars, watched a show or too on the iPhone, played at the playground, and of course watched some of the game. Nate really enjoyed his time with Andrew.

That night we went to Maggie's Bluff, a favorite of ours from college. We sat outside, had a great dinner, and took some fun pictures by the boats. After dinner we enjoyed some frozen yogurt on Queen Anne before heading back to the hotel to try and get some sleep. It's a little rough having all 4 of us in one room, especially with a baby, but the kids did pretty good.

The next day we wanted to take the kids to the aquarium but Andrew was pretty grouchy from the lack of sleep and said he didn't want to go. So we decided to just walk around Pike Street Market. We ate tons of food and got some fun pictures before heading back home. The ride home went smoother than the ride there. Ava took an hour nap which helped. All in all it was a great trip just the 4 of us. I LOVE my little family!

8.20-22.11
A funny little side story: Nate pointed out the Space Needle to Andrew. He asked Nate why it was called the space needle and if it went to space. Nate told him that it used to go to space, but now it's broken. Every time he saw it while we were driving around town, he'd say, "look, the space alien!" It was just so funny!
