Camping

This year we went camping at Prineville Resevoir and had the BEST time!  If you remember last year, it poured down rain at Lake Billy Chinook, so we decided to try a different location and August instead of June and we had beautiful weather and the best family time.  We went with my parents and our family friends Doug & Darlene Marks.
While we set up camp the kids were so cute just hanging out and coloring.  The were so happy to be camping.  The were so excited for the campfire that night.  That nights sleep was a bit rough though.  They had a hard time falling asleep and Ava cried a lot on and off through out the night.  Our air mattress got a hole in it so we were pretty uncomfortable.  Ava woke up early every morning until the last morning.  It was really the only night she slept well.  Despite the lack of sleep we still had lots of fun!
The next day we hung around camp and then headed down to the river.  We loved this lake because we could see it from our campsite and we were able to dock our boat and walk down to it instead of driving (like Lake Billy).  We didn't have to haul all of our stuff for the day down to the beach which made things so much easier!
Our walk down to the boat was beautiful.

This boy and dad's hat...he's just too cute!
LOVE them...Uncle Doug & Aunt Darlene.
 Yep, I still double ski.
My favorites (I guess Andrew didn't want his picture taken)
Our afternoons were spent back at camp taking naps, reading, playing games and just hanging out.  I tried having Ava take naps but it was rough.  She mainly played in the tent...she was exhausted but had a hard time sleeping in the tent.
One afternoon we headed to the marina for ice cream...this cutie is quite the little ham!
All of us on the tube!
Playing games while the adults made dinner.

The kids brought the scooters and had tons of fun around camp.
 Life long friends!
Sissy wearing brother's hat...isn't she so cute?!
We spent lots of time jumping and swimming in the lake.
Ava's idea of s'mores is just eating the chocolate (and sometimes the marshmallows).
 (blurry, but too cute!)
Papa teaching Andrew how to roast the perfect marshmallow.
The kids really loved Uncle Doug (& Aunt Darlene).
"Mommy, take a picture of me!"
She had quite a bit of sass and always wanted to be the leader and always had her hands on her hips when she's the leader.  Such a silly girl!

It's been years since I've wake boarded, probably before Andrew was born.  So I decided to give it a try and see if I could still do it.  I got up on the first try and seemed to do better than I have in the past.  I used Andrew's smaller board which I think helped.  I still don't love it, but was glad to know I can still do it and my kids were SO happy!
We even got Ava to go swimming and jump in the lake by herself.
One night Andrew decided he wanted to build his own fire.  Nate had showed him how to build the "log cabin" fire so he built it....
and Daddy helped him lite it.
He was pretty proud of his fire.
Ava wanted to help do dishes one night.
She likes to eat the marshmallow off the stick but not roasted.
 Our last night.
And there was a beautiful sunset.
Such a FUN family trip!
