A weekend away

Last weekend Nate and I went to Roseburg for a Doernbecher event.  We left on Thursday afternoon and headed towards Glide, Oregon.  It was so nice to drive in the car just the two of us.  We got to have adult conversation, listen to whatever music we wanted and even had some dance parties!  We finally arrived at Glide, the tiniest little town and checked into the smallest motel...only 6 rooms, but at least they were clean.  We headed over to the house for our first dinner party of the weekend.  It was nestled in the woods on the river, but there was so much brush you couldn't really see the river.  It was a beautiful night and we enjoyed dinner and drinks and a family of deer!
The next day we got to sleep in...hooray!  We started the morning pretty late and ventured into Roseburg to try to find a coffee shop.  Not much luck, so we just went to a coffee drive thru.  We wandered through Roseburg hoping to find something to do, but no luck.  We finally decided to grab a bite to eat at this cute little bagel shop.  We then headed to a local winery that was absolutely beautiful.  On our way back we stopped at Dairy Queen for Nate's favorite, a butterscotch dipped cone.  We headed about 30 minutes south to Seven Feathers, the casino and checked in.  The only have an indoor pool, but there was a little section right next to the pool that was outdoors so we decided to lay out for a bit before getting ready for the auction.
At Abacela
Making funny faces to send to the kids.
My father in law bid on this cake and it was amazing!
On Saturday the guys had a golf tournament to play in for Doernbecher so my mother in law and I went to the spa for the morning and then hung out by the pool.  The guys came back in the afternoon and then we headed back to Roseburg to meet up with the kids.  We got to enjoy some pool time by ourselves before the kids arrived.

While we were gone for the weekend my parents watched the kids.  They had a ton of fun playing with Papa and Pama and even got to go to the water park!  I was told that Ava really missed mommy though.  I haven't left her for more than one night before.
They all arrived at the hotel right in time for dinner.  We ordered a pizza and sat near the pool....the kids thought that was pretty cool.  After dinner we headed to the pool for awhile.  The pool was freezing cold but the kids didn't mind and had a blast swimming.
All Ava wanted to do was jump in the pool.
The kids loved that Papa and Pama had an adjoining room and had her read them a few bed time stories.

The next morning we met up with my sister and Leyton and headed to Wildlife Safari.  I remember going as a kid and loving it.  The park is amazing.  You get to drive around with all of this wild life roaming free....minus the bears, lions, tigers, and cheetahs which are caged.
These giraffes were amazing.
It walked right in front of our car.
This is how close we were to it!
The whole gang minus my mom who was taking the picture.
Checking out the turtle.
And the goats.
After Wildlife Safari we hit up the local drive in for lunch.  It was a total dump, but the kids thought it was fun that their lunches came in a car.

We headed back home after lunch but had to stop at Rice Hill for ice cream on the way.

(a little blurry, but still adorable!)
So GOOD!
They really love their cousin.  And Leyton is so good that she doesn't even cry when she gets totally smothered.

We tried to get a picture but our kids were not having it.  They were both exhausted from such a fun weekend!
